EPC software family is developed from professional Observation and Controlling UPS programs in order to observe, command and control the UPS parameters from PC. These programs provide communication between the RS232 port (COM port) of a PC and the RS232 port of the UPS. Thus the information obtained can be observed and controlled easily at the EPC window on the PC monitor.

With the aid of its serial communication port, in a Local Area Network the UPS can be connected either to the server or to one of the client computers. The EPC software program should be installed to the connected computer. EPC software is compatible with Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT Workstation and Windows NT Server, Win Me, Windows XP and Windows 2000 operating systems. Thus this is obligatory to have any one of the above-mentioned operating systems installed in the PC connected to the UPS.

EPC software can also be used in a network containing more than one server. In such a case the UPS can be connected to any one of the server or terminal computer provided that the compatible operating system is installed. UPS observation and control operations are done from this connected PC screen. Moreover, during mains failure other server or terminal PCs can also be shutdown safely although their operating system is like Unix, Linux or Netware.

The general properties of the EPC programs are as follows:

• The user can choose any one of the two languages (Turkish and English) for EPC.
• Observes and saves the changes in UPS operational status.
• Provides safe operation by warning the users at other terminals connected to the network.
• The changes in UPS operational status can be reported automatically through pager call or by mail to the pre-set e-mail addresses.
• It is also possible to report the changes in UPS operational status automatically through voice call over the telephone line.
• If adjusted based on UPS conditions, the program windows on the PCs can be closed and automatic shutdown of the PCs can be activated when required.
• Remote control of the UPS can be done by connecting a modem to the device.
• The data/parameters measured by the UPS can be saved at desired time intervals. For easy diagnosis, the obtained data related to power can be seen graphically and print out can be taken.
• The system administrator can easily observe the UPS operational status, can change the parameters and can On/Off the device.
• By displaying UPS load percentage it can continuously inform the user about load status.

All the programs can be customized according to the changes in technology or when the manufacturer feels it necessary to update.
